Privacy summary: Engine Builder Pro does not contain advertising or analytics and does not automatically upload workshop records. App data is stored locally unless the user chooses to export, back up, print, share, email, or use the optional AI cam-card scanner. Tapping Scan sends the selected photo through our Cloudflare backend to OpenAI for extraction.
1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Engine Builder Pro ("Engine Builder Pro", "we", "us" or "our") handles information in the Engine Builder Pro mobile and web application, the Engine Builder Pro website, and support communications.
Engine Builder Pro is a workshop recordkeeping and calculation tool. A workshop or other user may enter information about its customers. In that situation, the workshop or user is responsible for having an appropriate reason and authority to record that information and for protecting any exported copies.
2. Information used by the app
The app can store information that the user chooses to enter, including:
- customer and workshop details, such as names, telephone numbers, email addresses, builder names and workshop names;
- job numbers, vehicle descriptions, registration details and general notes;
- engine specifications, component details, measurements, clearances, calculator inputs and calculated results;
- photos selected from the device or taken with the camera, together with photo captions; and
- backup archives and PDF build sheets created at the user's request.
The app does not require this information to identify the device owner, and users can use calculators without entering customer contact information.
3. Camera, photos and files
Camera access is optional and is used only when the user chooses to photograph an engine build or cam card. The system photo picker is used when the user chooses an existing image. The system document picker is used when the user chooses a backup to restore.
Engine Builder Pro does not use the camera in the background and does not automatically upload photos or files to us.
The optional AI cam-card scanner uploads only the chosen photo when the user taps Scan. The photo is processed by Cloudflare and OpenAI, potentially outside Australia. Our scanner does not persist the photo or extracted response on the server. OpenAI requests use store:false; provider security and abuse-monitoring retention may still apply under OpenAI's API data controls. Crop out unnecessary personal information before scanning. Extracted figures remain subject to user review before they are applied to the local build sheet.
The scanner stores an access code using secure device storage and keeps a daily aggregate scan-attempt count on our backend to limit usage. This counter does not contain photos or cam specifications. Scanning is optional; manual entry remains available.
4. How information is used
Information entered into the app is used to provide features requested by the user, including:
- saving and reviewing workshop and customer build records;
- performing engine and measurement calculations;
- importing relevant values between job sheets and calculators;
- attaching and displaying build photos;
- creating printable or shareable PDF build sheets; and
- creating and restoring portable app backups.
We do not use app records for advertising, profiling, data broking or automated decisions about individuals.
5. Local storage and sharing chosen by the user
App records and attached photos are stored in app-private storage on the device. Engine Builder Pro does not operate a cloud database for the current version of the app and does not automatically receive those records.
When a user deliberately exports a backup, shares a PDF, prints a document, sends feedback, or saves a file to a service such as Google Drive, the selected operating-system service or third-party application receives the information the user chose to send. That third party handles the information under its own terms and privacy policy. Engine Builder Pro cannot control or delete copies held by a destination selected by the user.
6. Feedback and support
The app can open the user's email application to send feedback to [email protected]. We receive the email address, message content and attachments that the user chooses to send. To help diagnose technical issues, the app may pre-fill the email with the device platform and operating-system version. The user can review, edit or remove this information before sending. Feedback may be used to respond, troubleshoot problems and improve the product.
Support correspondence is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or as required for legitimate recordkeeping. A sender may request deletion of support correspondence by emailing the same address, subject to any legal retention requirement.
7. Beta tester registrations
If a person applies to join an Engine Builder Pro test, we collect the information submitted through the tester registration form. This may include their preferred name, Google Account email address, country, Android phone make and model, automotive role, engine-building experience, preferred testing areas and optional notes.
We use this information to assess tester applications, manage Google Play test access, send testing instructions, communicate about the beta and evaluate feedback. Tester registration information is stored in a private database provided by our website-hosting provider. It is not sold or used for unrelated marketing.
Tester information is retained while the testing programme is active and for no longer than 12 months after the person's last testing communication, unless a longer period is required for legitimate recordkeeping. A tester can withdraw or request access, correction or deletion by emailing [email protected].
8. External services and links
The app uses standard operating-system services for functions such as camera access, photo selection, file selection, sharing, printing, email and opening web links. A user may choose third-party destinations such as a cloud drive, print provider or email provider.
External reference links open in the user's browser. The destination website may receive ordinary web request information, such as the user's IP address and browser details, in accordance with that website's privacy practices.
Google Play and the device operating system may independently process information needed to distribute, secure and operate apps. Engine Builder Pro does not receive personal information from Google Play for advertising or analytics in the current release.
9. Advertising, analytics and sale of information
The current version of Engine Builder Pro:
- does not display third-party advertising;
- does not include an advertising SDK;
- does not include an analytics or behavioural-tracking SDK;
- does not sell personal information; and
- does not share personal information with data brokers.
10. Security
We use app-private device storage and operating-system permission controls to limit access to app data. No method of storage is completely secure. Users should protect their devices with appropriate access controls, keep secure backups, and take care when exporting records that contain customer information.
Backups are portable files and may contain customer details and photos. Users should store and transmit them using a destination and security measures appropriate for the information they contain.
11. Retention, access, correction and deletion
Local app information remains on the device until the user edits or deletes it, clears the app's storage, or uninstalls the app. Deleting a customer build from the app also removes its locally stored photo copies. Clearing app storage or uninstalling the app removes local data but does not remove backups, PDFs or other copies previously exported to another location.
Users can access and correct locally stored information by opening and editing the relevant build. Users can delete individual records in the app. Because the current app has no user accounts or developer-operated cloud storage, we generally cannot access or remotely delete records stored only on a user's device.
12. Overseas processing
Engine Builder Pro does not routinely transmit app records to us or disclose them to overseas recipients. Services selected by the user—including cloud storage, email, printing, app-store and website-hosting providers—may process information in Australia or other countries under their own privacy policies.
13. Children
Engine Builder Pro is a professional workshop tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through the app.
14. Website information
Our website does not use advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies. The website hosting and security provider may process basic request information—such as IP address, browser type, timestamps and security events—to deliver and protect the website. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when app features, data practices or legal requirements change. The effective date and last-updated date at the top of this page identify the current version. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page as appropriate.
16. Privacy questions and complaints
Please include enough information for us to understand the question or complaint. We will review privacy enquiries and respond within a reasonable period. Individuals may also have the right to contact the relevant privacy regulator in their jurisdiction.
